Key principles

During the joint masterplanning exercise six strategic moves have been identified:
Celebrate the greenway

Celebrate the greenway

The Bristol and Bath Railway Path provides a strong ecological and social opportunity to create a dynamic parkland edge to the scheme.

Establish a green spine

Establish a green spine

Utilising the existing accessibility network along Goodneston Road to provide a strong green connection between Filwood Road and Lodge Causeway with potential for a continued pedestrian link to the railway path.

Connect to the community

Connect to the community

Enhancing Filwood Road and Lodge Causeway to provide an active connector through to adjacent local centres. The link can provide a clear, safe local connection to animated community infrastructure.

Create linear connections

Create linear connections

Prioritising the human scale through a network of secondary and tertiary streets. Local Links are key to providing a clear and safe, social and natural connection to local areas. This move provides a range of secondary connections to the Bristol and Bath Railway Path.

Enhance the gateways

Enhance the gateways

Naturally enhanced nodal gateways that provide a unique arrival experience. Identified as an appropriate area for an increased massing approach to create landmark buildings. Working with the sites existing nature and heritage to create strong social and cultural spaces.

Diversify the pocket parks

Diversify the pocket parks

Natural spaces that offer enhanced ecology, increased sociability, health and amenity for residents.

The six strategic moves combine the framework vision which will inform the respective proposals across the three sites that are to be submitted as separate planning applications to Bristol City Council.
